Information about Compulsory Third Party Insurance in New South Wales
Green Slip or Compulsory Third Party Insurance (CTP Insurance), provides compensation for other parties injured in a Motor Vehicle Accident, when you or the person driving your vehicle are involved in a motor vehicle accident
It is compulsory to purchase a Green Slip in order to legally register your vehicle in NSW with the Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA). There are strict penalties for those who drive an unregistered vehicle.
CTP insurance only provides cover for personal injury to others who are injured by the at fault driver. If you are the at fault driver, you are not covered by CTP Insurance.
CTP Insurance DOES NOT provide cover to property - either your own or that of others - which may be damaged in the event of a motor vehicle accident. Contact QBE on 133 723 for information about comprehensive insurance or third party property damage insurance policies.
Change to Green Slips from 1 October 2007
The NSW Government has introduced a new benefit for all NSW Green Slip customers. The new scheme is called the Lifetime Care and Support Scheme (LTCS).
From October 1 2007 your Green Slip policy will also provide lifetime medical care and support for anyone catastrophically injured in a motor accident regardless of fault.
For more information surrounding Life Time Care and Support, or the operation of the NSW CTP Scheme please contact the NSW Motor Accidents Authority (www.maa.nsw.gov.au)
